September 2. 01. 5. I mastered the rising hysteria, lifted up my head, and took a firm stand on the stool. His countenance was, as usual, cadaverously wan- -but, moreover, there was a species of mad hilarity in his eyes- -an evidently restrained hysteria in his whole demeanour.
![]() The only warning is the electric skin- tension (I feel as though I were a lace- maker's pillow) and an irritability which the gibbering of the General Communicator increases almost to hysteria. And when he killed for revenge, or in self- defense, he did that also without hysteria, for it was a very businesslike proceeding which admitted of no levity. He recalled the scene within the temple when he had lain stretched upon the sacrificial altar, while La, with high- raised dagger, stood above him, and the rows of priests and priestesses awaited, in the ecstatic hysteria of fanaticism, the first gush of their victim's warm blood, that they might fill their golden goblets and drink to the glory of their Flaming God. Bertha Kircher laughed as evenly and with as little hysteria as though she were moved by the small talk of an afternoon tea. Even though the Russian knew that he was safe from his enemy, the very sight of him threw him into a frenzy of trembling cowardice, which became frantic hysteria as he saw the white giant dive fearlessly into the forbidding waters of the tropical river. All I can particularly recall is that I laughed, though neither from a spirit of bravado nor from hysteria. Also, in the moments when he was shoved away and was springing back to the attack, he yelped in high- pitched puppy hysteria. Michael possessed no trace of hysteria, though he was more temperamentally excitable and explosive than his blood- brother Jerry, while his father and mother were a sedate old couple indeed compared with him. Hysteria (2. 01. 1) for Rent on DVD and Blu- ray. Common Sense Note. Parents need to know that Hysteria is a comedy- romance set in the 1. Although the movie (akin to The Full Monty) manages to coyly avoid actually saying anything vulgar or showing any nudity, it has very strong suggestions of sexuality, as male doctors provide orgasms for female patients in an attempt to treat "hysteria." The doctors touch and massage the women behind a discreet screen, while they remain otherwise clothed. There's a bit of violence (male debt collectors beat up an old lady in one scene), and some social and comical drinking. Even though the movie isn't graphic, teens should be mature enough to understand something about sexuality before viewing. Sexual Content. Hysteria is all about female sexuality, but it's very coy about actually showing any nudity or directly saying anything vulgar. Even so, women - - diagnosed with the vague condition "hysteria" - - visit the doctor to have orgasms, and the male doctors (working under a discreet screen), masturbate and massage them to achieve this. Otherwise, they remain clothed. The dialogue during these scenes is almost exclusively made up of discreet innuendo. Additionally, a former prostitute propositions the hero, but using only innuendo and gestures. The most physical thing shown, aside from a romantic kiss, are two ducks having sex in a pond. During the end credits, there are photos of vibrators throughout history. Violence. Debt collectors beat up an old woman, and a young woman punches a cop in the face. Viewers see images of a primitive hospital, with leeches, blood, and festering wounds. There's general arguing and a reference to splitting someone's head with an axe. Language. Since the movie is set in 1. Social Behavior. It's possible to see a message about women's liberation or women's sexuality, but Hysteria's arc is mostly focused on very traditional Hollywood things: men getting ahead in the world, getting rich, and finding romance. That said, most characters do learn that they can choose their own path in life. Consumerism. Not applicable. Drugs / Tobacco / Alcohol. A supporting character is said to be a drunk, but he's rarely actually seen drinking. Otherwise, characters drink socially (whisky, rum, champagne, and port), and there's discussion of doctors and the pills they prescribe. Legend. Age appropriate. Not an issue. Depends on your kid and your family. Not appropriate for kids of the age most likely to want to see it. 8/24/2017 0 Comments Anschauen Omar Sosa: Out Of Africa film mit deutschen Untertiteln in 4320p 16:9OMAR SOSACeremony (OTA1. Ceremony takes something of the structure of a sacred batá ceremony, invoking a panoply of Yoruba deities, while also delving into the Cuban son, danzón, and cha- cha- cha. In keeping with Yoruba tradition, Ceremony exits with a final ritual salutation to Elegba. Ceremony acknowledges the majesty of the legendary Afro- Cuban big bands of Frank “Machito” Grillo, Chico O’Farrill, and Dizzy Gillespie, while extending those revered traditions in a contemporary salute to the expansive universe of world jazz, wherein Sosa himself continues to reign as a joyous, generous, abundant, and essential creative spirit. Ceremony grew out of a conversation with Hamburg producer Stefan Gerdes of NDR, who brokered the connection with Brazil’s Morelenbaum, who is much sought after as an arranger, reflecting his signal work with Antonio Carlos Jobim, Caetano Veloso, Gilberto Gil, Gal Costa, Cesária Evora, and Mariza, among many others. The NDR Bigband is an ensemble of accomplished soloists whose talents have been highlighted through the work of such noted arrangers as Steve Gray, Colin Towns, and Michael Gibbs. Over the years, the NDR Bigband’s artistic collaborations have comprised a virtual “Who’s Who” of world jazz: including Chet Baker, Paquito D’Rivera, Pee Wee Ellis, Joe Gallardo, Lionel Hampton, Dave Holland, Abdullah Ibrahim, Pat Metheny, Joe Pass, Maria Schneider, Wayne Shorter, Oscar Brown, Jr., Al Jarreau, and Bobby Mc. Many bizarre communities have survived in the valleys and caves, some regressing to primitive states, others embracing advanced technologies. Many are isolationist and some are attacked by marauding bandits. Ground transport is no longer possible due to the atmospheric conditions, but skilled pilots can travel by air, following the fierce winds and travelling with their flow, a practice known as "riding the slipstream". The remnants of society have therefore become airborne; most now reside on high precipices or in caves beneath the howling Slipstream. It is also stated that nobody has ever been to the ends of the Slipstream, because atmospheric conditions there make human survival impossible. The film opens with an unnamed man (Peck), running down a canyon, being harassed by an aeroplane, which drives him onto a precipice. The plane lands and its occupants, two bounty hunters, Will Tasker (Hamill) and Belitski (Kitty Aldridge), chase the man and shoot him through the arm with a grappling hook. The fugitive looks at his arm, but seems intrigued rather than distressed. Tasker pulls on the rope, and the man tumbles down the side of the canyon, but once again is not harmed. Immediately after his fall, the fugitive recites the words of famous World War IIaviator and poet. John Gillespie Magee, Jr., "I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth - put out my hand and touched the Face of God.", from the poem High Flight. The bounty hunters take the man prisoner and fly to a busy civilian airstrip, where he stands beside them, handcuffed, as they eat in the airstrip's diner. There they encounter Matt Owens (Paxton), a hustler and smalltime arms dealer. He makes a pass at Belitski and she nearly breaks his arm, and he then tries to sell contraband grenades to Tasker. It is then revealed that Tasker and Belitski are part of the remnants of a law enforcement agency, trying to keep the peace in what is left of society. Byron is wanted for murder, and they are bringing him to justice. Ever since I released the nLite update after so many years, I am getting the same question: will there be nLite for Windows 7+, is current nLite update all there is? Tasker seizes Owens' weapons, but as the pair are leaving, Owens kidnaps Byron so that he can claim the large reward for himself, and they flee, but not before Belitski shoots Owens with a dart, both poisoning him and planting a tracking device in his body, enabling Belitski and Tasker to follow the fugitives. Owens and Byron first fly to Owen's home, Hell's Kitchen, where Byron heals a boy blinded by cataracts, and Owens begins to wonder if Byron is more than he appears. After getting lost, they land at the home of a cult of cave- dwellers who worship the Slipstream and who have recently been under attack by bandits. Byron attempts to help, lifting a heavy milling stone off the cult's leader, Avatar. Avatar, in his dying breaths, curses Byron as being part of the out- of- control technological advancements that lead to Convergence. The cultists decide to let the wind decide what to do with him, and tie him to a massive kite. The bounty hunters arrive in the middle of a windstorm, and Owens bargains with them to work together to get Byron down. After a rough landing from the destroyed kite, Belitski allows Byron and Owens to get away, diving back into the deadly windstorm to search for her partner. Another visitor to the valley, Ariel, helps Byron and Owens escape the scouring winds, and convinces them to give her a lift home. Ariel takes them to her people, a group of hedonists, who inhabit a fortified underground museum. Byron's knowledge and appreciation of the museum's ancient contents lead to Ariel becoming emotionally attached to him. Byron and Ariel spend the night together in an African Savannah exhibit, while Owens gets drunk and hooks up with a local girl. The local girl helps Owen decide to free Byron, who has become his friend. Later, Byron explains more of his past, revealing that the man he killed was his master. Byron also excitedly tells Matt that he has slept for the first time, and that he dreamed of a land at the end of the Slipstream, inhabited by other androids. Soon after, having tracked the trio to the museum, Tasker and Belitski force entry, killing the guards and some of its inhabitants. After beating the Curator (F. Murray Abraham), Tasker forces the rest to find the fugitives. Byron is captured, and Owens is knocked down. Belitski confronts Owens and shoots him in the chest with a dart; Owens retaliates by knocking her out, and handcuffing her to a bed. She wakes and tells him that the dart is the antidote to the poison. He sets off after Tasker. A shootout ensues in which Tasker kills Ariel. Enraged, Byron pursues Tasker to his plane. Tasker shoots Byron, to no effect, so he then tries to run Byron down as he takes off, but Byron manages to jump on, and smash his way into the cockpit. The pair struggle, but as Byron is on the verge of killing him, Tasker quotes the Magee poem and Byron relents. He then attempts to regain control of the damaged aircraft by using the control wires, but he is unsuccessful, and it crashes. Tasker is killed, but Byron, being an android, survives. He returns to the museum to find that Belitski and Owens are now a couple. The film ends with Byron leaving to seek his 'promised land'.[2]Mark Hamill as Will Tasker, a self- proclaimed lawman, although his profession seems to be more akin to that of a bounty hunter. Kitty Aldridge as Belitski, Tasker's female companion. Bill Paxton as Matt Owens, a smuggler and small- time arms dealer. Bob Peck as Byron, an android with superhuman powers. Eleanor David as Ariel, a member of a hedonistic cult who live in an underground museum. Robbie Coltrane as Montclaire, an associate of Owens in the mountain caves. Ben Kingsley as Avatar, the elderly leader of the wind- worshipping cult who see the slipstream as the manifestation of God. F. Murray Abraham as Cornelius, the curator of a vast underground museum. Production[edit]Slipstream was the second feature Gary Kurtz made as a producer after splitting from his former creative partner George Lucas. Kurtz's early production credits included the films Chandler and Monte Hellman's cult road movie Two Lane Blacktop (1. He then began his hugely successful collaboration with George Lucas by producing Lucas' commercial breakthrough, the low- budget American Graffiti (1. Kurtz then produced, worked as a second- unit director, and played a major creative role in the first two Star Wars films, but the partnership ended acrimoniously in the interval between Empire and the third instalment of the series, Return of the Jedi, when Lucas and Kurtz fell out over the creative and commercial direction of the franchise. Following the acrimonious split with Lucas, Kurtz acted as executive producer on the fantasy film Return to Oz, which was not a commercial success. He returned to commercial favour as the producer of the hit fantasy film The Dark Crystal in 1. He evidently hoped that he could recapture his earlier success in science fiction with Slipstream, which co- starred popular actors from three of the major sci- fi franchises of the period - Hamill from Star Wars, and Paxton from Aliens. However, in spite of the many prominent names involved, including Kurtz, the cast, and distinguished Hollywood composer Elmer Bernstein, Slipstream proved to be a disastrous financial and critical flop. Its failure reportedly drove Kurtz into bankruptcy, and as a result, the film is now in the public domain. Slipstream was filmed in Cappadocia, Turkey, Ireland, and Pinewood Studios, Iver Heath, Buckinghamshire, England, UK. Release[edit]Slipstream had a short cinema run in the United Kingdom, where it was considered a flop, and Australia, where the film grossed just $6. Google Plus(Visited 1. Sandro Botticelli (Alessandro Filipepi)Alessandro Filipepi was born in Florence in the quarter of Santa Maria Novella near the Arno river. Alessandro’s father, Mariano Filipepi, was a tanner and was aided in his trade by his proximity to the Arno. In an income tax return dating to 1. Mariano stated that he had 4 sons: Giovanni, Antonio, Simone and Alessandro (nicknamed Sandro). Mariano described Sandro, 1. His father’s description sheds light on the introspective nature of the boy, which possibly stemmed from his childhood illnesses and which left undelible tones of melancholy on many of his paintings. In his Lives, Giorgio Vasari wrote that as a youth, since Sandro was always restless, his exasperated father sent him to a craftsman named “Botticello” in the hopes that he would become a goldsmith, hence Botticelli, the name by which he is commonly referred. Another version of the story goes that Sandro’s brother, Giovanni, was known as a drunkard and therefore called Botticello (“botte” is the Italian word for barrel). Thus, the famous painter would have taken the nickname of his brother, much less known and for other reasons. Seeing that his son had finally become enflammed by a passion for art, Mariano decided that Botticelli should learn the art of painting. Around 1. 46. 4, Sandro became apprenticed to Fra Filippo Lippi and by 1. Filippo Lippi certainly had the earliest influence on the young Botticelli, which is most evident in the facial characteristics of Botticelli’s figures. In 1. 47. 0, Sandro had his own workshop, and in August of that year, he completed a work that would bring him public acclaim and artistic prestige. This painting, entitled Fortitude, was commissioned by the Tribunale di Mercatanzia, one of the most important local institutions at the time. Fortitude is one of the seven Virtues. The other six pannels were commissioned to Pollaiolo. By 1. 47. 0, Botticelli had fully discovered his style. In the following years, his work was enriched by Humanistic themes, having been commissioned by members of the Medici family. From this moment, Botticelli would be employed primarily Florentines and Pisans. It was during these years that the painter had close ties with the house of Medici, by then the recognized rulers of Florence. Sandro painted effigies of the conspirators of the Pazzi Conspirancy on the facade of the Palazzo Vecchio, thereby embracing the cause of the house of Medici. Thus, the period of his greatest prestige and most intensive activity began. In 1. 48. 0, Botticelli painted the St. Augustine in His Study for for the Vespucci family, allies of the Medici. This painting is located in the church of Ognissanti. That same year, due to Lorenzo the Magnificent’s new cultural policy and desire for a reconciliation with the papacy, Botticelli was summoned to Rome. There he painted frescoes on the walls of the Sistine Chapel alongside Ghirlandaio and Perugino. In 1. 48. 2, his father died and he returned to Florence. He was commissioned by the Medici (together with Ghirlandaio, Perugino and Pollaiolo) to paint frescoes in the Sala dei Gigli in the Palazzo Vecchio. However, Sandro did not execute this task. In 1. 48. 7 the Magistratura dei Massai di Camera (tax officials) commissioned Botticelli to produce a tondo for the audience hall in the Palazzo Vecchio. This work is known as the Madonna of the Pomegranate. Savonarola’s arrival on the Florentine political scene had an explicit incluence on Botticelli’s works. In fact, religious themes predominated his paintings, as evidenced by the Annunciation, painted for the Cistercian monks (today located in the Uffizi). By 1. 49. 8, the year of Savonarola’s execution, Botticelli was very wealthy, as described in the Catasto: he had a house in the Santa Maria Novella quarter and collected rent from a Villa in Bellosguardo, outside the Porta San Frediano. However, Botticelli was deeply disturbed by Savonarola’s death, which seemed to him a grave injustice. The influence of the Dominican made a deep impression on Sandro, whose work became more visionary and greatly differed from the general stream of Florentine artistic trends. In 1. 50. 1, he painted the Mystic Nativity, which contained apocalyptic symbols and allusions to the contemporary situation in Italy. It was also the first time that he signed and dated a painting. In 1. 50. 4 he was part of a committee created to choose a location for Michelangelo’s David, having been recently painted. The old painter died on 1. May 1. 51. 0, having becoming practically inactive and forgotten, and was buried in the family tomb in the church of Ognissanti. Botticelli’s more important paintings were created under the influence of the Medici family and reflect the cultural atmosphere that surrounded it. The work considered as most typifying the relationship between the Medici family and the artist is the Adoration of the Magi, now housed in the Uffizi Gallery. This work was commissioned between 1. Giovanni di Zanobi Lami, a banker with close ties to the Medici family. The main attraction of this painting is that it contains so many portraits of historical characters. Sandro Botticelli’s two famous works, the Primavera (Spring) and the Birth of Venus, were commissioned by the Medici. They were painted between 1. Giovanni and Lorenzo de’ Medici, the sons of Pierfrancesco. This branch of the family later rebelled against the absolute rule of Piero di Lorenzo and became referred to as “the Medici of the people”. It was to this branch that the Grand Dukes belonged. The Birth of Venus has already been described in a previous post, and the Primavera has the same basic setting. Many interpretations exist regarding the origins of the subjects of the two works. While some are of the view that they derive from classical poetry, it is also believed that the inspiration emanates from the works of Ficino, according to which Venus, instead of symbolizing the carnal nature of pagan love, represents the Humanist ideal of spiritual love. It is therefore a cosmological- spiritual representation, in which Zephirus and Flora give birth to Spring, the central symbol of the creative capacity of Nature. In the Birth of Venus and in the Primavera, it is remarkable how the delicate colors of dawn are portrayed in the flash tones of the figures rather than in the background. The optimism of the Humanist myth is here blended harmoniously with the calm melancholy so characteristic of Botticelli’s art. It is well known that Botticelli also produced illustrations of Dante’s Divine Comedy, one of which being the famous Map of Hell, to which we dedicated one of our first posts. Pictures by Wikimedia.
